Welcome
to the
Stag Circle
Tracing the path of Ancient Druidism back to the Shaman of the Indigenous People
| |
| The
StagCircle
To find the roots of the Stag one must go back to a time when
tradition was but becoming the gathered collection of symbols and pictures painted
on cave walls. | |
Antlers
have been worn as head dresses by European Shaman and Native Americans, they can
also be found within the oldest religions of India and other indigenous tribes. | Early
evidence can be found all over the world including the wonderful cave painting
found in France of an 18 thousand year old Tribesman wearing Antlers with face
of a Lion the body of a man though resembling a Horse with tail. Les Trois Freres,
is the name of the cave situated in the French Pyrenees. Existing long before
Cities and the rule of Warriors and kings the early Tribesman would have been
very close to nature and the animals that would provide their food and clothing.
| The
path of the horned God has continued down through the years to the present day. Images
such as that known as Cernunos are found on many old artifacts but non more known
than the Gundestup Cauldron

Modern
Herne Stagman hailing the rise of the Sun at Beltane morning on Glastonbury Tor 2007 | Was
it a religion back there at the dawn of
mankind or was it a tribe of people dancing around dressed in their kill for some
primitive entertainment. Many believe it was very much a religion to those
early people in as much as they had a sense of spirituality connected with nature,
as the paintings found world wide indicate, and this connection still exist in
remote regions of the world today.
Question Is
the Stag Circle of today considered a religion? Yes
it is by those who practice it, although we may not be living as our earliest
ancestors their way of life was unique to their day we still have much in common
with them. For instance we need air to breathe, we need water,
we need to eat, and we also need fire to stop our selves from freezing. Those
are the obvious essentials then there are our other needs, being creatures of
a sharing nature we like to gather and share company as friends we like to play,
sing and dance, this is evident over thousands of years of human existence.

| We
also have and share a deeper need, and that is one that seeks some kind of spirituality.
| |
 The
Gundestrup Cauldron | The
spirituality is very simple and free of complications, after thousands of years
the essential need to associate to the divine has not really changed, but what
has happened is the rise of super religious orders that perhaps have over complicated
the raw essence and about a million paths that offer and promise almost anything
from everlasting life in paradise to eternal life on earth have made choosing
a religion the same as bargain shopping.
Something well worth keeping in
mind, due to the age of the early tribal spirituality means that it is the root
of all religions so one can see by the following that the basics exist in all
paths and can be said to form a sacred triangle or a circle with four points Air
of which we could not last for more than minutes, secondly Water of which we would
dehydrate and perish in days, thirdly Fire the cleansing force and the use of the
element that determines our advantage over the rest of earths creations. We
are the Earth our Bones, Skin, all matter of which make up our body.

| What
does the StagCircle promise?
To
be truthful the Stagcircle promises nothing and why should it, as humans we will
live and die our physical body will return back to the earth whence it came,
what happens to the spirit is down to the individual to discover.
All though
it does offer friendship on the journey through our physical existence with fellow
beings who are seeking to discover and understand their own spirituality and perhaps
the great Spirit of Earth. Stag
Circle Philosophy | |
| There
are rules, but not rulers, organizer's not leaders. After
all we are talking about spirituality what is normally a personal thing, what
good would it be for you to have somebody ruling over you telling you how to think,
leading you along a path tainted with their own ideas and hopes. That would
never do, every individual is unique and with a little focused concentration can
enjoy and celebrate within a marvelous world free of dogmatic taboos. The Spiritual
path your connection with the divine nature and all life should be a joyous and
wonderful experience. Lets
go back to those rules I just mentioned not in any particular order |

Many
Religions distract the attention away from nature and the natural laws of which
are necessary for as Human beings.
 To
establish harmony and save a world that is being eaten alive by war and greed
we need to change the future.
| Swearing
upon the Stag
| The
tradition of the Stag shows up in stories such as Robin Hood especially the TV
adaptation by Carpenter during the 80,s, where Herne featured as the spiritual
force behind the entire series. To
the left is a picture of around 1906 of the landlords of London swearing an oath
on the Antlered Stang as was tradition, something that later died out but with
the revival of the energy hopefully these old traditions will be revived as well. |
